Born in Copenhagen, 24th of April, 1962. Grant student at Universidad Complutense in Madrid in 1987-88. Masters degree in Spanish and Computational Linguistics at University of Copenhagen in 1989. PhD in Computational Linguistics at University of Copenhagen in 1998. From 1989 to 1991 an employee at Eurotra-Dk, University of Copenhagen. 1991-1999 researher at Center for Sprogteknologi. 1998-2004 external lecturer at Copenhagen Business School teaching lexical semantics and machine translation. Senior Researcher 1999-2010 at Center for Sprogteknologi, University of Copenhagen. Since Oct. 2010 Professor in language technology at Center for Sprogteknologi, University of Copenhagen

Research areas, projects and scientific committees

Main research areas within language technology are computational lexicography, lexical semantics and linguistic ontologies. Has worked with strategies for expressing regularities in polysemy within the theory of Frame Semantics (PhD), has been project manager of SIMPLE-DK concerned with the development of a semantic lexicon for Danish and involved with the application of semantic lexica in content-based information retrieval (OntoQuery). Coordinator of the Nordic NORFA network SPINN on harmonisation of language resources in the Nordic countries and the coordinator of the Danish Senseval2 participation on sense tagging. Has been project manager of VID (Knowledge and Document Handling with Language Technology) which included 5 Danish industrial partners. Project manager of DanNet concerned with the development of a Danish wordnet and of Fovits on research-based post-university education. Work package leader of lexical resources in DK-CLARIN 2008-2011. Danish coordinator of EU project CLARA - Common Language Resources and their Applications — a Marie Curie Initial Training Network and of EU project META-NORD on developing an open linguistic infrastructure in the Baltic and Nordic countries.

Vice President of NEALT (Northern European Association of Language Technology) 2012 ->. Program Chair NodaLida 2011. Board member of representatives, Dansk Sprognævn (2009 ->). Workshop leader of Semantic lexical Workshop at NodaLida 2009, Board member (2008 ->) of Global WordNet Association - an organisation that provides a platform for discussing, sharing and connecting wordnets for all languages in the world. Member of OntoWeb - a European Union founded project about ontology-based information exchange. Board Member of Leksikografer i Danmark, LEDA 2000-2002.
